:: FAQ on Industrial Insulation ::

1. What is the Specific Heat for Rockwool products?

The heat capacity of Rockwool products at 20°C is 0.84kJ/kgK.

2. What are the services temperatures of Rockwool?

The limiting temperature of Rockwool is 800ºC. Rockwool products are bonded with a synthetic resin that is resistant to temperatures up to 230ºC. Certain faced products are subject to lower maximum working temperatures.

3. Can Rockwool provide fire protection for equipment where flammable liquids or other hydrocarbons are involved?

H 1100 systems have been specially developed to provide protection to pipes and vessels against the fierce heat of hydrocarbon fires, as well as other areas of hydrocarbon fire hazard on and off shore. A full description of H 1100 systems suitable for flat or large diameter vessels, structural steelwork, large diameter pipe work, and general pipe work is shown in the relevant data sheet.

4. Do you manufacture a product, which can be used to give fire protection to the bulkheads of ships?

Yes, Marine Firebatt 2000 can give A30 and A60 fire ratings to steel bulkheads or deck heads. The thickness would depend on the rating required.

5. Do you have any products, which can be used for fire protection of ductwork?

Yes, we manufacture a product called Fireduct System. This is a system for insulating any vertical or horizontal steel ductwork associated with ventilation and/or air conditioning systems.
